R&D of the Concept and Architecture Design of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM) System

Participants The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)

We design the operation concept and system architecture for UTM (UAS Traffic Management) to realize high-density BVLOS operation of small UAS. As a tool for that, we develop a UTM simulator to evaluate the safety and efficiency of the operation for the designed UTM concept / system architecture. The simulator can help to verify each element of the system and also validate the integrated system.

Report of 1st UTM Symposium

■ Purpose of the Symposium
We present the latest research and development results of the "DRESS (Drones and Robots for Ecologically Sustainable Societies) project" promoted by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) on the basic concept and system architecture of UTM that support the development of the drone industry. We also discuss the future prospects of UTM as a platform to generate new value through the use of "sky".
