Downsizing and low power consumption of collision avoidance systems

Participants Japan Radio Co., Ltd./Nippon Avionics Co., Ltd./Autonomous Control Systems Laboratory Ltd.
Contract Type Subsidy
Overview

Objective

・ A collision avoidance system technology at a relative speed of 200 km/h or more will be developed.

・ Size, weight, and power consumption aim to:
Lightwave sensor: 2,250 cm3/0.8kg/25W
Radio sensor: 2,400 cm3/1.2kg/45W
Autonomous control equipment: 270 cm3/ 0.3kg/ 8W

Outline

・ Based on information from various sensors (light wave sensors, radio wave sensors, etc.) mounted on unmanned aircraft, the position of objects that interfere with flight will be identified, and unmanned aircraft will themselves generate the optimum flight route to develop technologies to reduce the size, weight, and power consumption of various sensors in order to avoid collisions.

・ From this fiscal year, we will develop a non-cooperative SAA system that can be mounted on a small unmanned aircraft, which can detect manned aircraft and other aircraft in flight in a small unmanned aircraft as well as objects using the sensors, generate flight paths for collision avoidance, and control the flight of the aircraft immediately.

Relevant Achievement

Development of traffic management system and collision avoidance technology for unmanned aircrafts
(2) Development of collision avoidance technology for unmanned aircrafts
1) Non-cooperative type
implemented from FY2017 to FY2019.
