Results

【Flight and communication tests for high-altitude UAVs at Fukushima-Sky Park】

We conducted flight and communication tests on high-altitude UAVs, assumed to be connection points between satellites and BVLOS drones.
As a result of the tests, we confirmed that we can create environments wherein we can communicate with drones in BVLOS areas.
From this experience, we would like to use the knowledge we gained to design high-altitude UAVs and radio devices for UAVs, and aim to create UTM systems that allow drones to fly in fire scenes or undeveloped ground level communication areas.

 

Activities and NEWs

● Conducts the first communication test to share location information between drones and helicopters in the world. – Aiming to create UTM systems that allow drones to fly safely in BVLOS areas.

We conducted the first communication test in the world that shared information such as location, altitude, direction, IDs, etc. every second between drones and helicopters that were considered as UAVs, and succeeded. Using the results of the test, we would like to use the experience and knowledge gained to design power saving wireless devices and UTM systems. We aim to create UTM systems that allow drones to fly in fire disaster scenes or underdeveloped ground communication areas.
